Councilman returns sooner than expected

Jim Nelson has returned to City Council in League City.
He attended City Council's budget workshop meetings Monday night and last night. He had been sidelined for the last two months by triple-bypass heart surgery and complications from the procedure that nearly killed him.
It felt pretty good," said Nelson, 72, who is in the last year of his second term.
Nelson hadn't planned to return until City Council's meeting on Sept. 8.
I could have waited," Nelson said, but I'm just sitting at home doing nothing."
