Bales Intermediate plans family festival
Bales Intermediate School's Parent-Teacher Organization wanted to try something different this year for a fundraiser instead of its December Nutcracker Market.
So, the group is organizing a Family Fun Fest for 3-7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the school, 211 Stadium Drive, Friendswood.
Vendors and craftspeople are invited to purchase booths, but this event also will feature games for children, a carnival and even a haunted house.
"It's something new we're trying," said event co-chairwoman Janet Banfield. "We're trying to create a more family-type atmosphere. There's going to be teacher particiation, a silent auction and a raffle trip for a family of four.
"The money goes toward technology, equipment and also for teacher incentives," she said. "It basically all gets handed over to the school for items they need."
The fee to rent a 10-by-10 booth is $60. The price is $75 for a same-sized booth with electicity.
