A mission that left icing on the steering wheel
So my kids and I were stalkers today. We tried to time it just right. We left ten minutes before 4:00 and drove about 12 miles to the destination. I had been following this subject on Facebook for several weeks now. The Facebook or Twitter page will tell where it will be and what can be found on it. Today was the day, it was finally coming to the area. We got there just a few minutes after the appointed time only to find that it was not there. I pulled over into a parking lot to check and see if there had been a change posted on Facebook. Suddenly, my daughter calls out, "There it is!" My son yells, "Go, go, go, faster!!!!" I drive....
What are we stalking? The Cupcake Coach. Think an ice cream truck that sells cupcakes. According to the website, it is Texas' first mobile gourmet cupcake vendor. (I am a huge fan of cupcakes. In fact, you can read my earlier blogs about The Naked Cupcake. They are currently putting the finishing touches on their new facility and should be open soon.) The Cupcake Coach buys ingredients locally when possible and packages them in individual, recyclable containers. That is a huge plus for me!
The menu is ever changing. Today was the debut of the applesauce spice with cinnamon cream cheese icing. However, chocolate, vanilla and red velvet are always on the menu. My kids tried the chocolate and vanilla and I sampled (devoured) the red velvet-they had me at cream cheese frosting. These cupcake bakeries are amazing. You always get a moist cupcake that doesn't crumble as it is eaten. In the past, my kids would generally just eat the cake part of a storebought cupcake and leave the icing. Those days are behind us now. They both declared the icing as the best part. I agree. In fact a bit of cream cheese frosting fell off my cupcake onto my steering wheel. For a split second I entertained the thought of going after it, until my germaphobe side won out.
Last summer after driving into Houston to pay a huge ammount of money for dry cupcakes at a gourmet cupcake bakery, I was almost turned off of fancy cupcakes. But lucky for Clear Lake, the Cupcake Coach and The Naked Cupcake are far superior.
