14 more gnomes stolen in League City

Be on the lookout for more gnomes who've vanished from League City's Brittany Bay subdivision. And a chipmunk figurine.
It's the second such theft in two weeks.
League City Police Sgt. Bruce Whitten said 14 gnomes and the lone chipmunk were stolen between 3 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday from the front yard of a house in the 2000 block of Edinburg Ave.
The stolen figurines have a combined value of $420.
Two of gnomes are 2 feet tall, and an additional 12 gnomes are 6 inches to 12 inches tall.
The 63-year-old woman who owned the figurines told police that she does not have any problems with her neighbors or neighborhood children, Whitten said. Police have no suspects.
She just went outside, and they were gone," Whitten said.
Six gnomes worth $50 each were also stolen in the Brittany Bay subdivision between 10 p.m. on June 13 and 8 p.m. on June 14 in the 2100 block of Eastlands St. Police don't have any suspects in that theft either but believe the two are related, Whitten said.
We're not sure if it's neighborhood kids and pranks or if these things have some value where somebody is selling them on eBay," he said.
Whitten said police officers will be alerted so they can closely watch homes with garden gnomes or in case they happen to stop any suspicious people with gnomes.
The only practical anti-theft measure that residents might be to take to help safeguard their gnomes would be surveillance cameras, he said.
Those with information are asked to call 281-338-8210.
