League City teen attacked with shovel

A League City teenager was injured Saturday when someone assaulted him with a shovel.
League City Police Lt. Bruce Whitten said the incident occurred about 9:05 p.m. Saturday at a house in the 2900 block of Autumn Brook Lane.
The 17-year-old victim answered a knock at the door and went outside to the side of the house.
There, he was confronted by an 18-year-old man he knows who picked up a shovel and swung it at him twice, striking him in the right forearm, Whitten said. The assailant then threw the shovel at him before fleeing, Whitten said
The victim sustained minor cuts on his forearm and the palm of his hand.
A shovel can be considered a deadly weapon depending on how it's used," Whitten said. This one was definitely used in a manner where it could have caused serious injury. The victim got lucky to only get the minor cuts from it."
The victim initially declined to pursue charges against his assailant, but change his mind Monday, Whitten said.
Those with information are asked to call 281-338-8210.
