Construction to start on El Lago splash pad

El Lago's construction of a squirting, fountain-like splash pad will start next week and should be finished by the end of next month.
Last week, City Council approved hiring GameTime to build the 1,400-square-foot attraction at the city's El Lago Swim and Racquet Club. The splash pad will have up to 13 different types of water features like a water cannon and a fountain with up to 30 nozzles, she said.
City Secretary Ann Vernon said the city expects the project to cost $190,000 to $200,000.
We're thrilled, excited and can't wait," Vernon said. I'm so looking forward to getting something new out there."
The splash pad will be the first new attraction at the club since it was donated to the city three years ago, Vernon said. All of the previous work had been swimming pool equipment upgrades, demolition of two dilapidated swimming pools and a building and new items like lights, she said.
This is finally the first time we're going to come in and go, Oh, here's something new and exciting for you to get to play on now,'" Vernon said. This is something that the community can actually enjoy. People will get excited with us over this project."
