Northbound Gulf Freeway to close
Northbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway will close at FM 646 in League City tonight so that an overhead exit sign can be installed.
Karen Othon with the Texas Department of Transportation said Tuesday that the interstate will be shut down from 9 p.m. Friday, June 18, until 5 a.m. Saturday, June 19.
Traffic will have to exit to the frontage route, and a police officer will be on hand to direct cars through the stoplight. Traffic will be allowed to get back on the freeway past Highway 96.
Othon said the construction of the I-45 overpass over Highway 96 is "substantially complete."
This week the contractor is picking up barriers used during construction, making freeway lane closures necessary:
Two northbound lanes will be closed at FM 646 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
Northbound and southbound lanes will be closed nightly but just one at a time, around Highway 96 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday night.
