Intersection on Bay Area to get makeover
Houston plans to make some changes that traffic planners hope will make the intersection of Bay Area Boulevard and Moonrock safer.
The Bay Area Citizen's Mary Ann Hellinghausen talked to Jeff Weatherford, Houston's deputy director of traffic and transportation, about how the city will respond to residents complaints:
Design work will soon begin to create an S''-shaped median, allowing motorists to turn left onto Moonrock from Bay Area, but not turn left onto Bay Area from Moonrock.
Also, a hybrid pedestrian signal will be installed west of the intersection on Bay Area between Moonrock and Space Center Boulevard, to allow pedestrians to cross Bay Area.
One pedestrian died at the intersection in 2009, and someone died 2008 as well, prompting calls for action, but not everyone's happy with the solution.
Find out why from the Bay Area Citizen.
