Another bad month for vehicle burglaries
After a rash of motor vehicle burglaries in April, police in League City, Nassau Bay, Friendswood and Webster were busy dealing with that crime again in May.
That month, police from those cities investigated 67 motor vehicle burglaries, plus 32 home or business break-ins and five robberies, according to this article from the Bay Area Citizen.
Many of the motor vehicle burglaries could be prevented if motorists would not leave valuables in their cars and trucks," Webster Police Chief Ray Smiley said.
Most of the vehicle break-ins and home burglaries were in League City.
One driver returned from a fitness center on League City Parkway to find his window smashed and his laptop stolen. Another resident's wallet and Ipod were taken when his locked vehicle was broken into at the League City Sportplex.
The robberies were reported at Blockbuster on West Marina Bay Drive, the Sonic Restaurant at 3221 FM 528 in Friendswood and at locations near 18000 Upper Bay Road in Nassau Bay, 4900 FM 2351 in Friendswood and 500 Cedar St. in League City.
