Ike still blowing lawsuits into Galveston County

Galveston County court officials expect as many as 7,000 storm-related lawsuits to be filed within the next year.
There already are about 2,500 Ike-related lawsuits filed in the county, District Clerk Latonia Wilson said in this article from the Galveston Daily News.
Most are from homeowners against insurance carriers for underpaying or nonpayment on hurricane-related damage claims.
While the deadlines to file lawsuits related to storm damage vary based on the insurance policies, the first comes Sept. 13 -- the two-year anniversary of the storm.
