Woman accused of punching friend's daughter
A League City woman who was looking to confront a friend in Friendswood was arrested last week after police said she punched the friend's peace-making teen-age daughter in the face.
Sonia Habel, 36, is charged with assault causing bodily injury and was released from the Friendswood jail after posting a $4,000 bond.
Friendswood Police spokeswoman Karen Peterson said the incident began when the woman went to a house in the 16400 block of Hibiscus Lane around 8:20 p.m. Thursday to confront her friend.
Peterson didn't know what the argument was about but said when the friend's 17-year-old daughter tried to calm down Habel, the suspect punched her in face, splitting her lip, then fled back to her home in League City.
There, a Friendswood police officer tried to take Habel into custody, but police reported a 35-year-old woman who's believed to be her roommate tried to keep the officer from arresting her.
Police said Karey Dotson pulled on Habel to get her away from the officer and tried to lock the door so that the officer could not take her to the patrol car.
After Habel was in custody, Dotson was charged with interfering with the duties of a public servant and taken to the Galveston County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
