Clear Lake grad Westby contributes to Tulane victory
Clear Lake High School graduate Ashley Westby contributed two points to Tulane's 71-65 home win over Eastern Michigan Saturday, Dec. 29 at Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans, the Tulane website reported.
Westby also recorded one rebound, an assist and one block for the Green Wave, who improved to 9-2 on the season.
Westby, a junio center at Tulane, is a 2010 graduate of Clear Lake High School where she was a two-year letter winner on the basketball court for coach Angela Beck. During her two seasons (2008-09 and 2009-10) on the varsity team at Clear Lake Westby helped the Falcons go 46-21 overall and 23-5 in District 24-5A play while advancing to the playoffs each season. As a senior Westby was named the district's offensive player of the year and a first-team all-district honoree after averaging 13.4 points per game. Westby averaged 14 points and 16 rebounds per contest as a junior to collect second-team all-district accolades. In addition to basketball she played soccer at Clear Lake. Born June 8 1992 the daughter of Tim and Christine Westby she is majoring in business management at Tulane. Westby is from Houston.
