Clear Lake athletes in action: Women's basketball
Two women's basketball players with Clear Lake high school ties have scheduled action this weekend:
Kiara Redmon, Bethune-Cookman University
Position: Guard
High school: Clear Brook High School
This week: Sunday, Dec. 30, versus College of the Holy Cross
About Redmon: Redmon, a 5-foot-9 junior guard for Bethune-Cookman University, is a 2010 graduate of Clear Brook High School. She earned all-district honors her junior and senior years. She is the daughter of George and Shari Redmon and is a biology major.
Ashley Westby, Tulane University
Position: Center
High school: Clear Lake High School
This week: Saturday, Dec. 29, versus Eastern Michigan University
About Westby: Westby is a 2010 graduate of Clear Lake High School where she was a two-year letter winner on the basketball court for coach Angela Beck. During her two seasons (2008-09 and 2009-10) on the varsity team at Clear Lake Westby helped the Falcons go 46-21 overall and 23-5 in District 24-5A play while advancing to the playoffs each season. As a senior Westby was named the district's offensive player of the year and a first-team all-district honoree after averaging 13.4 points per game. Westby averaged 14 points and 16 rebounds per contest as a junior to collect second-team all-district accolades. In addition to basketball she played soccer at Clear Lake. Born June 8 1992 the daughter of Tim and Christine Westby she is majoring in business management at Tulane. Westby is from Houston.
