Gas prices in and around Clear Lake were lower than the averages for Houston and the country as a whole, according to data from the price-tracking website gasbuddy.com.

Visitors to the gasbuddy.com website reported rates for 86 gas stations in and around Clear Lake as of Saturday, Dec. 15. The average price of regular unleaded gas in Clear Lake is $2.99 per gallon. Gasbuddy.com listed the Houston average at $3.03, the state average at $3.04 and the nationwide average at $3.28.

The least expensive gas in Clear Lake was reported to be $2.69 for a gallon of regular unleaded, which gasbuddy.com contributors logged at Murphy USA, 1721 W. FM -646; H-E-B, 2955 S. Gulf Freeway; and Murphy USA, 155 FM -518.

A gasbuddy.com user reported the most expensive gas in the area was $3.29 at Shell, 1910 Nasa Parkway.
