Herron wins first Roger Stallings Student Speech Competition
College of Mainland student Deneika Herron recently won the first annual Roger Stallings Student Speech Competition at the College of the Mainland in Texas City.
Herron's speech focused on the coffee company Starbucks.
"My love and addiction to liquid crack led me to research Starbucks," Herron said in a press release.
After earning an associate degree from the College of Mainland, Herron plans to transfer to the University of Houston-Clear Lake to work toward a bachelor's degree in accounting.
Herron is a Ball High School graduate.
