Dickinson ISD Stuff the Bus Food Drive raises $5K for M.I. Lewis Food Pantry
Students from Dickinson ISD collected 30,000 food items and raised $5,072 through the district's annual fall Stuff the Bus Food Drive.
Proceeds and donations from the fundraiser will benefit the M.I. Lewis Social Service Center, which provides emergency assistance, food, clothes and social services to families in need in the district.
Sixty Dickinson ISD campuses participated in the annual fundraiser. This year, Dickinson Continuation Center, which has a student population of 70, collected the highest average number of items per student. Students at DCC donated 1,030 items, or an average of 14.7 items per student. Calder Road Elementary collected the second-highest total, with 6,349 items collected, or an average of 8.6 items per student. Third place went to Silbernagel Elementary, which collected an average of seven items per student, for a total of 5,263 items.
