Eleven Friendswood runners complete Marine Corps Marathon

Eleven athletes from Friendswood completed the Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 28 in Arlington, Va.

The runners from Friendswood and their finishing times were Laurie Petty, 46, 4:08:16; Scott Green, 51, 4:42:24; Josie Flores, 47, 4:43:09; Tom Bui, 48, 5:12:22; Bob Schwartz, 48, 5:18:52; Andrea Kessel, 55, 5:23:49; Jack Kessel, 54, 5:23:59; Gracie Flores-Fischl, 45, 5:24:56; Carrie Cravens, 48, 5:50:23; Richard Gavin, 54, 5:53:50; and Jason Seifert, 42, 6:02:17.

According to Marine Corps Marathon organizers, a total of 23,520 finished the 26.2-mile race.

Augustus Maiyo, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was the men's overall winner with a time of 2:20:20, while Hirut Guanqul, of Ellicott City, Md., was the winner in the women's category with a time of 2:42:03.
