Seabrook chooses Mario's Flying Pizza as business of the year
The city of Seabrook recently named Mario's Flying Pizza as its 2012 Business of the Year.
The restaurant was honored at the Economic Alliance Annual Membership and Awards Banquet held Oct. 25.
Mario Bonaccorso and Giovanni Smecca launched the business in 1969 in Galveston, according to the press release.
The restaurant's New York-style hand-tossed pizza is known locally as the flying pizza.
A Seabrook location at 1304 Bayport Blvd. was opened in 1991. It is owned and operated by Tamara Vogt.
In addition to pizza, Mario's has been an active member in the community, providing food for emergency crews in the area after Hurricane Ike and donating to various causes in the local school district.
