Clear Lake High School's Ellen Lobb was the Clear Lake area's strongest competitor this weekend at the state swimming championships.
In the 5A competition, Lobb placed third in the 50-yard freestyle race and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly, while Clear Creek's Samantha Lera placed sixth in the 3-meter dive.
In 4A competition, Friendswood High School's girls placed sixth in the 200-yard medley relay and seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Rachel Cragin placed eighth in the 100-yard butterfly.
Overall, Houston-area swimmers and divers claimed three of the four team titles at the University Interscholastic League's state swimming and diving meet Saturday at the University of Texas. Kingwood Park took home another Class 4A boys team crown, Kingwood earned the Class 5A girls championship with 167 points, and The Woodlands was No. 1 in 5A boys with 225 points.
