Cosmetology students from Lee College recently won first place in the 14th annual Texas Independent Beauty Supply Association Hair Competition held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Houston.
According to a press release, 12 students from the college engaged in a performance that featured costumes and hairstyles from the 1950's to present day, as well as many songs, including Lolli Pop, Twist and Shout, Sexy and I Know It and The Wobble.
"I am so proud of our students," said Leslie Turner, cosmetology faculty member at Lee College, in the release. "Aside from winning $1,000 and a trophy they learned how to integrate all of their ideas, overcome their fears, and create a one of a kind performance that put Lee College on the map."
While this was the first time students from Lee College participated in the competition, returning competitors at the event included students from San Jacinto College, Houston Community College and the Royal Beauty School.
