UH-Clear Lake gets new mascot logo
University of Houston-Clear Lake has announced the official mascot logo art.
The mascot search began in 2010 and included input from students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community that resulted in selecting the hawk as the official UH-Clear Lake mascot.
"Our Mascot Leadership Team worked diligently to see this process completed with input from the Mascot Advisory Team," said William A. Staples, president of UH-Clear Lake, in a press release. "Our hawk logo not only reflects the attributes that we desire in a mascot, such as courage, spirit and adventure, but it also reflects the natural beauty of our campus and the historical relationship to the alumni association's hawk logo from the 1980s."
The University of Houston-Clear Lake was founded in 1974. The university offers 40 bachelor's degrees and 45 master's degrees through its schools of business, science and computer engineering, education and human services and humanities. A second campus is located in Pearland.
University of Houston-Clear Lake is at 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston.
