Friendswood rethinking its park plan
The plan for Friendswood's parks will be unveiled tonight.
The city's Parks Board will present a master parks plan that it has been working on for over a year at the Feb. 22 City Council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall. It's up to the City Council to decide whether to approve it.
Mayor David Smith said the city already has such a plan, but it hasn't been updated in 10 years. It is recommended that the plan be updated a minimum of every five to 10 years, Smith
said.
This is important," Smith said. This is the city's guide as to what we're looking for in the future as far as meeting those green space and park needs of the community. As the community grows, the environment changes, and the community needs change, you have to anticipate your needs with your parks and recreation facilities. I'm looking forward to seeing that."
