Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce to host 'Shrimp Boil'
The annual Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce Shrimp Boil will take place from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Nessler Center in Texas City. The 25-year-old event will be held indoors again, and advance tickets are now on sale for $20 until noon the day of the event at Moody National Bank, JSC Federal Credit Union, AMOCO Federal Credit Union, Texas First Bank and Boyd's One Stop, all in Texas City, or at the chamber office until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. Tickets at the door will cost $25. The price includes a shrimp dinner, two drinks and admission to the dance. Kids' hot dog dinners are $5. Dinner will be served from 6-8 p.m. and will be prepared by Dexter Guillory of Riceland Farms in Eunice, La. Guillory has been the Shrimp Boil's master cook for the past decade. Other activities will include music from the Pee Wee Bowen Band, a shrimp-eating contest and a raffle for a $500 Tanger Outlets gift card. The shrimp-eating contest is open to individuals or employees representing corporate sponsors. The first-place winners will receive a $100 chamber gift certificate, a T-shirt, a hat and the first-place Shrimp Olympics medal. Medals also will go to second- and third-place finishers.
