The Spring 2012 Clear Lake Bridge Club offers lessons for beginners as well as tournaments and regular games.

The Clear Lake Bridge Club already has a large membership, but it is constantly welcoming new players with whom to enjoy the game.

A club membership costs $10 per year, or nonmembers can pay $6 per game to play. The club is particularly interested in educating players, especially younger people, so it offers classes and lessons both on the rules of the game and on more advanced strategy. Even though bridge is a four-player game, it is acceptable not to have a partner.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: The Clear Lake Bridge Club is a very active organization with a large membership from all over the community and is affiliated with the American Contract Bridge League. Whether a person is an advanced bridge player or a total newcomer to the game, the club has it covered. Even if an individual does not know anyone else who plays, the Clear Lake Bridge Club will find them a partner. They also offer classes for those seeking to learn the rules of bridge. In addition to casual games and classes, the club also runs tournaments each quarter, many of which bring competitors from around the state.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "We have a daily schedule of times when you can meet and play with other people. We have certain rules and guidelines, but our biggest goal is to educate more people and get more people, particularly younger people, into bridge. The thing we stress the most is the education. It's a great diversion. It keeps you active, and it keeps your mind active." — Claudia Parr, Clear Lake Bridge Club vice president
