Boat races and more planned for Galveston Bay
The Lakewood Yacht Club encourages sailors and boat-lovers to come to Galveston Bay this fall to enjoy the many races that are scheduled.
Beginning Sept. 22, the Lakewood Yacht Club will have a full calendar of racing activities.
"Racers don't have to put their boats in storage for fall and winter," said Lakewood Yacht Club Fleet Capt. Joyce Maxwell in a press release. "They should trailer them to our area for a few extra months of racing and enjoying the weekends on the water."
The races start Sept. 22-23 with the Houston Yacht Club One Design Regatta (J/22, J/24, J/80, J/105 and J/109). For more information, visit www.houstonyachtclub.com.
The Galveston Bay Cruising Association will host BVA Compass Bank Regatta on Oct. 6-7. For more information, visit www.gbca.org.
The Lakewood Yacht Club J/Fest Southwest Regatta will be held Oct. 13-14. More information can be found at www.lakewoodyachtclub.com.
The Lakewood Yacht Club Harvest Moon Regatta's next race will be Oct. 25-28 from Galveston Bay to Port Arkansas, Texas.
Galveston Bay Cruising Association will hold a Turkey Day Regatta on Nov. 17-18.
Local yacht clubs, boatyards and some businesses are providing free boat storage in between events. For more information, visit www.JFestSouthwest.com.
The Lakewood Yacht Club is located at 2425 NASA Parkway in Seabrook,
