League City candidate ineligible to run

A man who filed Monday to run for League City Council during the city's May 8 election is ineligible because he missed the city's one-year residency requirement by a few days.
Andy Mann, 42, a systems administrator, has lived in League City since May 18, when he closed on his house, City Secretary Barbara Long said. To run for election, a candidate must be a resident for a year preceding the election, she said.
Long said she informed Mann on Wednesday that he was ineligible.
I think he considered it a bummer, but I don't think he was angry," Long said.
The seat he sought was City Council Position 7, which is currently held by Councilman Jim Nelson, who does not plan to seek a third term. No other candidates had filed for his seat as of Wednesday afternoon.
