Game of the week: Springs vs. Brook

With Clear Creek, Clear Springs and Clear Lake holding down the top-three positions, Clear Brook is trying to stay within reach of Dickinson for the fourth-and-final playoff berth in District 24-5A.
A Clear Brook victory at Clear Springs would be huge for the Lady Wolverines, who were swept by Dickinson in district and need a little help to qualify for the postseason.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS
Clear Brook: The Lady Wolverines started the second round of 24-5A with losses to Dickinson 48-43 and Clear Lake 61-51, and a 58-51 win over Brazoswood. Meanwhile, Dickinson opened the second round with victories against Clear Brook and Brazoswood 53-45, and a 49-40 loss to front-running Clear Creek. Four Lady Wolverines scored in double figures against Clear Lake including Callis with 14, Love 13, Ngo 12 and Ezeh 10. Clear Brook closes district by hosting Alvin at 7 p.m. Friday and visiting Clear Creek at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9 (Dickinson, which downed Clear Brook 42-33 in the first round, has home games with Clear Springs Friday and Alvin on Feb. 9).
Clear Springs: The Lady Chargers' hopes of a 24-5A championship, or even part of the title, may have come to an end in a 65-53 home loss to Clear Creek last week. The Lady Wildcats swept Clear Springs this season (Clear Creek won 54-49 in the first round), and so far, those are the Lady Chargers' only two league losses. Kilgore and Jessica Te'o each scored 13 against Clear Creek, and Brown and Lira finished with 10 apiece. Clear Springs led Clear Creek 31-27 at halftime, but was outscored 38-22 in the second half. The Lady Chargers wrap up the regular season at 7 p.m. Friday at Dickinson and at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9 at Brazoswood.
