Pearland rejoins Clear Creek in District 24-5A
Pearland High School will return to a more challenging district with a move to 24-5A for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years, according the University Interscholasic League's biennial realignment released Monday morning.
The Oilers will take on four of Clear Creek ISD's high schools -- Clear Springs, Clear Brook, Clear Lake, and Clear Creek -- as well as schools in Alvin, Brazoswood and Dickinson under the UIL's football and basketball alignment. CCISD's new high school, Clear Falls, isn't included in the new UIL alignment because it's opening next next fall without juniors and seniors and won't yet have varsity football or basketball teams.
Pearland is currently grouped with Pasadena ISD schools, Deer Park and La Porte in 22-5A.
Pearland's newer Dawson High School will play in District 24-4A with Friendswood, Manvel, La Marque, Santa Fe, Texas City and Galveston Ball, which is dropping from Class 5A.
