A break on property insurance in League City
League City residents and business owners should soon be paying lower property insurance rates.
The decreases are expected because the city's rating by Insurance Services Office Inc. recently improved from a 5 to a 3. ISO's ratings range from a best of 1 to a worst of 10.
The scale is the nationwide standard for fire protection. The city's new rating will go in to effect once it is approved by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
A city's ISO rating is used by insurance companies to help determine property insurance rates. The review that League City had to complete for its latest ISO rating lasted from the spring of 2007 to October.
This is a cost savings," city spokeswoman Kristi Wyatt said. It's also a great pat on the back of our fire department and fire marshal. It shows they're doing a great job of serving our city."
