KKK letters draw complaints [updated]
The KKK has been delivering recruitment letters around Seabrook, Baytown, La Porte and Deer Park.
Seabrook Mayor Gray Renola said his bayside community was one of the last cities to receive the poorly written letters, which were left in driveways last weekend.
It's basically soliciting all like-minded, white Christians from the correct lineage and all that other nonsense," Renola said. It's really tragic that people think like that."
Seabrook has received a few complaints from residents about the letters, Renola said, but the distribution of them does not violate any city ordinance.
If there was something criminal about being stupid and putting out fliers, then there'd be lots of people in jail," Renola said.
Renola said he wishes that residents would have ignored the letters, which were first reported by KTRK Channel 13.
Otherwise you're just giving them free publicity," he said.
