Learn the language at flowers at Armand Bayou Nature Center as part of its Second Saturdays series.

in Independence will offer tips on the care of antique roses. See a propogation demo by members of the Houston Rose Society. Learn about EarthKind roses, and tour the nature center's native-plant gardens.
Both kids and adults are invited to make and take old-time "Tussy Mussy" bundles of fresh flowers and sprigs of herbs. They can be used as Valentine's gifts but historically have a more practical use explained by Julia Knutson of Seabrook, who'll be dressed in 19th century costume.
This month's door prizes will be antique rose plants from the Antique Rose Emporium.
There will be children's activities, door prizes and more.
When: 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Where: at Armand Bayou Nature Center, 8500 Bay Area Blvd. in Pasadena.
Cost: Free to members. Otherwise, $3 for adults, $1 for kids 4-12 and seniors 60 and up.
