Half Price Books makes donation to school
McWhirter Elementary students (from left) Chelsea Gatson, Felicia Rubio and Crystal Carter show their excitement after choosing their "Barbie" books from the CIS-Bay Area annual Spring Break Book Fair.
The annual, free Spring Break Book Fair at McWhirter Elementary School received a donation of nearly 3,000 books from Dallas-based Half Price Books.
The donation from the retail new and used chain bookstore helped provide students with books to take home and read over spring break.
The event was organized by the Community in Schools-Bay Area chapter, a dropout prevention program serving the Clear Creek and Dickinson Independent school districts. For more information, visit www.cisba.org.
Half Price Books operates a Houston location at 961 NASA Parkway. For more information, visit www.hpb.com.
