Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees approves extracurricular fees
The Clear Creek Independent School District, 2425 E. Main St., League City, has approved extracurricular fees for athletics and fine arts programs during the 2012-2013 school year.
The move comes following deep cuts from the state. Clear Creek ISD lost $13 million in state funding in 2011-2012 and will lose an additional $4 million in 2012-2013. CCISD wants to manage the budget shortfall without burdening families during the still sluggish economy and without eliminating programs that are essential to students.
Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Dr. Alex Torrez led a district committee that developed the fee structure, which will see students paying one fee of either $50 or $30 for all the activities in which they wish to participate. The money will go toward maintenance of uniforms and equipment.
