See Nassau Bay's new police uniforms
The Nassau Bay police department is getting a new look.
Later this month, it will unveil a new uniform that consists of a navy shirt with red epilates and dark navy trouser with a thin red stripe. The department's previous uniform had been a French blue shirt and pants, but both often faded after washing, causing different shades of blue.
Shortly after being hired in October, Police Chief Joey Cashiola held a departmental meeting with a uniform sales representative, and officers chose the new uniform through voting.
This is the first time that the police department has a completely new uniform since it was formed in 1975.
The police department also has a new modernized patch that still includes the city's logo of the compass rose.
"It all looks really sharp and clean," City Manager Chris Reed said. "Across the board, there's a lot more uniform appearance."
