Friendswood Junior High participates in academic competition

Friendswood Junior High students won trophies and medals in the UIL Academic competition on Feb. 18 at Santa Fe Junior High.

The following students won awards: Cameron Cudd received third in Maps, Graphs and Charts and second in Modern Oratory; Christy Fong received first place in Maps, Graphs and Charts, third in Dictionary and first in Calculator; Josh Gruener received seventh in Math, first in Number Sense and fifth in Science; Kyle Jones received second place in Ready Writing, sixth in Social Studies and third in Listening; Ryan Kuehnle received fourth place in Impromptu, first in Science and first in Social Studies; Dante Marcuccio received first place in Oral Reading, second in Dictionary and seventh in Editorial Writing; Kaleb Sanders received fourth place in Math, second in Number Sense and fourth in Calculator; Angel Yancy received sixth place in Spelling, second in Art and second in Listening; Sarah Diller received first place in Ready Writing, first in Editorial Writing and sixth in Listening; Kathryn Dowless received eighth place in Dictionary, fourth in Spelling and third in Art; Erin Janak received ninth place in Oral Reading, third in Spelling and ninth in Science; Victor Liaw  received first place in Math, first in Maps, Graphs and Charts and first in Number Sense; Robert Lincecum received second place in Math, third in Maps, Graphs and Charts and second in Science; Neha Narayan received second place in Impromptu, first in Modern Oratory and first in Listening; Kristen Olansen received fourth place in Social Studies, ninth in Calculator and ninth in Science; Faatima Ovais received third place in Oral Reading, third in Number Sense and first in Calculator; Meghan Perry received sixth place in Impromptu, third in Editorial and second in Listening; Tyler Rex received eighth place in Number Sense and seventh in Editorial Writing; Candise Tat received fourth place in Ready Writing, first in Social Studies and first in Spelling; and Kayla Wooten received fifth place in Impromptu and fourth in Calculator.
