Crisis Intervention of Clear Lake needs adults and teens over the age of 15 to answer phone calls on the Crisis Hotline and Crisis Teenline. The agency helps individuals resolve or prevent crisis situations through the use of volunteer phone counselors on a 24-hour hotline. Volunteers receive thorough training to help others calling in times of crisis dealing with relationships, substance abuse, depression, stress and other issues.Phone counselors also provide callers with important information about community and educational resources. Acting as a crisis volunteer is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the fields of mental health and psychology, while helping others. Volunteers need no prior experience, but need to have good listening skills, an objective, caring attitude and be 15 years of age or older. Comprehensive training is provided for all interested volunteers.
