Space shuttle composition debuted by Westbrook Intermediate School Band
The Westbrook Intermediate School band performed Christopher Tucker's "Mission STS: Ecceda Terra" at the Lila Cockrell Theatre, in San Antonio, on Feb. 10.
The performance was part of the Texas Music Educators Association Conference, an event which the honors band was invited to attend.
The seventh- and eighth-graders performed an hour-long presentation, which also included a performance of "San Antonio" by Brian Beck, featuring a solo by clarinetist Joey Kasteic.
The space shuttle-themed "Mission STS: Ecceda Terra" was was initially commissioned as a tribute to NASA.
Directed by Rick Brockway, with assistance from Maria Robichaud and Keith Raney, the band is currently the 3C Middle School State Champion.
