Race raises money for Operation School Bell
Bay Area Assisteens, an auxiliary of the Assistance League, held its first 5K run, which raised more than $6,000 for Operation School Bell.
Zach Dwyer of Clear Lake High School finished the 5K in first place, with a time of 18:09, followed by Forest Bell, also from Clear Lake High School. Hannah Jones, of Brookside Intermediate, finished with the fastest women's time. Emma Latimore of Clear Lake High School came in second place in the women's division.
Assisteens works with more than 200 students in grades nine through 12 who serve the Bay Area through community service.
Operation School Bell is Assistance League's largest philanthropy. It provides new school clothing for school-aged children in need. So far this year, Operation School Bell has helped clothe more than 1,700 students in four area school districts.
