10 New Year's goals for Clear Lake

I once read somewhere that it is better to make goals than resolutions in the new year. One of my goals last year was to start a blog. I can't remember the other goals, but that is likely because I didn't accomplish them. My main goal this year is to complete a 5K run or two. This week I am starting a Couch to 5K program. I figure that if I put it out there in cyberspace, I will be more likely to hold myself accountable. We shall soon see.
I have created a wish list of 10 goals for the Clear Lake Area. Some are purely selfish and others are for the good of the area. Judge for yourself!
1. The northbound Bay Area Boulevard exit shall reopen.
I can't even remember when we had to start exiting at Nasa Road 1. However, this is one of those "darned if you do, darned if you don't." If I have my wits about me and remember to exit early, then I end up in a long line of traffic waiting for the lights to change. If I am in one of my forgetful patterns, then I end up exiting El Dorado and sitting in a long line of cars waiting for the light to change.
2. A cupcake bakery shall open.
This is purely selfish. I took my kids to a cupcake bakery in Uptown Park this summer and it was so cool. All they make are cupcakes and the creativity going into each flavor makes for some amazing creations. Who doesn't love a cupcake?
3. Clear Springs Chargers shall bring home a state title.
They came close and it wasn't for a lack of trying. This was the school's first year with seniors and they blew through several rounds of the playoffs before falling to the Katy Tigers. They sure had those Tigers running scared during that game though! Go Chargers!
4. Construction of the Education Village shall finish on time.
The new Clear Falls High School and Bayside Intermediate should open on budget next fall, with everything they need for a successful school year.
5. Construction of NASA Parkway's flyovers shall wrap up.
I'm looking for them to open in both directions during the first quarter. Refer to Goal No. 1, but also, who isn't ready to have that fully functional?
6. New hospital shall finally open.
By the close of the first decade of the new century, the Clear Lake Area should have a new hospital to choose from. That skeleton that has been standing on Highway 3 and Medical Center should become a state-of-the art medical facility.
7. No hurricanes or mass evacuations, please.
Need I explain this one?
8. Whole Foods shall open here.
Is it bad that I keep going to a food theme? For years and years, we have been hearing rumors of a Whole Foods in our area, and it has not yet happened. Let's make this a reality. Who is with me?
9. Snowfall shall take us all by surprise once again.
Let's have a three-peat! I don't have a preference as to whether it occurs in the early months of 2010 or December. Let's get it on the recordbooks. Actually, is a White Christmas too much to ask for?
10. Tookie's shallcome back to life.
If you know anything about me, you knew that this was coming. Let's have Tookie's sold, re-opened with the original recipies and perhaps a new burger named the "Ike Burger." Would it be too much to ask to have this done by summer?
So there you have it. These are my goals . . . What are some of yours?
May you all have a happy, safe and prosperous 2010!
