Devereux Texas gala raises money for mental illness
More than 200 guests attended Devereux Texas's third annual gala at Hotel ZaZa on Jan. 26.
Devereux is a nonprofit hospital and residential treatment facility for people with emotional, developmental and educational disabilities, and the James Bond-themed evening raised funds for the children and young adults in its care.
Gala chairs Misty and Mushahid Khan were recognized, as was Pattie Dale Tye, market president for Humanas Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth operations.
A Sean Connery impersonator was on hand as guests sampled hors d'oeuvres from Brenners Steakhouse, Grotto, La Griglia, Pesce, RED Sushi and Hibachi Grill and Willie G's Seafood and Steaks.
Guests also bid on trips, artwork, jewelry and sports memorabilia in live and silent auctions.
"Devereux is here to help others by erasing the stigma and raising awareness about mental illness," said Pam Helm, executive director for Devereux Texas, via a press release. "Our primary mission is to make a difference in the lives of others so they can live free from mental illness. One in four people will experience mental illness at some point in their lives, and the fact is that this is completely treatable.
