BAHBT announces auditions for 'Hairspray'
Bay Area Houston Ballet and Theatre will hold auditions for the musical "Hairspray" on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
"Hairspray" takes place in 1962 in Baltimore, and tells the story of plump teenager Tracy Turnblad, who lands a spot on a local television dance show.
Those who wish to audition should sing a musical theater song in the style of the show, a song from the 1950s or 1960s or a song from "Hairspray."
Songs should highlight the person's personality and voice. Those auditioning should bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.
Broadway veteran Kevin Cahoon will direct the show, which will run April 20 through April 22 at the University of Houston Clear Lake's Bayou Theatre.
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts is located at 17170 Mill Forest Road, in Webster.
