Kemah’s Krewe du Lac announces Mardi Gras events

Kemah’s Krewe du Lac will kick off Mardi Gras Season with the Royal Ball on Friday, Feb. 3.

The ball will take place aboard the Spirit of Texas Paddlewheeler, and begins three weeks' worth of events leading up to the Mardi Gras parade in Galveston. The evening starts with a pre-boarding social from 7-8 p.m. At 8 p.m., the boat will depart Endeavor Marina for a two-and-a-half-hour cruise. The cost is $50 per person.

The Kemah Rum Runner Ghost Tour takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. The tour begins at Zone 504, located at 504 Kipp Ave., and includes stops at Wine Down, Tequila Mia’s and Amadeus.

The “Krewes Into Kemha Kick-Off Party” starts at 8 p.m. on Feb. 10 at Bakkhus Taverna, located at 605 Sixth St. The free event features live music and welcomes all ages.

The Galloway Gallop Fun Run starts at 8 a.m. on Feb. 11, followed by the Mardi Gras Parade at 11 a.m., beginning at the corner of Fifth Street and Bradford Street. From noon to dusk, the party moves to T-Bone Tom’s Backyard for another all-ages-welcome event. The evening ends with Krewe du Lac’s first masquerade ball, starting at 9 p.m. at Zone 504.

Krew du Lac takes the party aboard The FantaSea luxury Yacht for its annual Yachty Gras Boat Parade at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 18. Tickets can be purchased at www.thebigwhiteboat.com.

Finally, on Feb 21, the Krewe takes to the Strand Uptown District to finish out with a Mardi Gras finale from the Krewe Babalu balcony. Tickets are $20.
