Lakewood Yacht Club to host Bay Cup I
The Lakewood Yacht Club has announced the 2012 Bay Cup I will be held on March 3.
The deadline for entry is 5 p.m. Feb. 29. A $70 entrance fee includes a post-race dinner with musical entertainment in the club's lounge.
The club will continue the Cruising Non-Spinnaker and Cruising Poleless Spinnaker classes as well as the PHRF Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker, Short-handed Offshore Sailors and Multihull classes and possibly a One-Design class. Classes require a minimum of four boats.
The race will feature long-distance racing in Galveston and Trinity Bays in addition to a navigational challenge.
The Bay Cup I is the first in a two-race series, which concludes with the Bay Cup II on Aug. 11.
A skipper's meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 2 in the Lakewood Yacht Club ballroom, located at 2425 NASA Parkway in Seabrook.
