Seabrook apartments, management company blamed for burglary

A Seabrook apartment complex and its management company are being sued over claims they failed to provide a tenant with a secure rental unit.

Amanda Vail filed a lawsuit Friday, Jan. 27 in Harris County District Court against Pirates Landing Apartments in Seabrook and Greystone Asset Management Co., citing negligence and breach of contract.

Vail lost many valuables Sept. 9, 2011 when an unknown suspect burglarized her Pirates Landing apartment, according to the lawsuit.

The suspect entered her apartment through a sliding glass door that failed to meet Texas Property Code requirements, according to the suit.

Vail is seeking damages, attorney’s fees and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Kelly Greenwood Prather.
