Galveston Police Department to offer civil service exam
The Galveston Police Department will offer a civil service exam on Monday, Feb. 6 at the Galveston Island Convention Center.
The exam is for people interested in becoming a police officer on the Island and is required as part of the City of Galveston’s hiring policies.
Minimum qualifications for applicants are: they must have the ability to obtain a valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education License, be between the ages of 21 and 45, have a high school diploma or GED certificate, be a United States citizen, posses a valid Texas driver's license, be in good physical health and have no felony convictions.
Participants must pre-register for the exam by calling the City of Galveston’s Human Resources Office at 409-797-3650 or the Galveston Police Department Training Division at 409-765-3640. The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
The exam will begin at 9 a.m. and no one will be admitted after the test has started. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
The exam will be given in Exhibit Hall B of the Galveston Island Convention Center, located at 5600 Seawall Blvd.
