Master Gardener classes announced for February
The following Galveston County Master Gardener Educational programs have been planned for February:
"Gardening by the Square Foot" will be from 9-11 a.m. on Feb. 11. The class is taught by Master Gardener John Jons, who will go over the basics of square-foot gardening. These include garden bed designs, soil preparation, plant selection and care. The class will include a practice session to help students get ready for their first square-foot garden bed.
"Kitchen Gardening" will be from 1-3 p.m. Master Gardener Mary Demeny will instruct on how to create a vegetable garden in the backyard and cover topics such as recycling, mulch and composting. The class will also have a discussion of canning.
"Anyone Can Grow Roses" will be from 9-11 a.m. on Feb. 18. Jons will teach cover the basics for a successful rose garden.
All classes will be at Galveston County AgriLife Extension Office, 4102 Main St.
