League City police, fire departments hold shopping event
League City police and firefighters held the second Blue Santa Shop with a Cop/Firefighter event on Dec. 18 at the League City Walmart.
Children attended the event with their parents and were given $100 to spend on themselves. Each child was paired with a cop or firefighter who helped them decide how to spend their money. Each family also received a $25 gift card for Walmart.
After the event, police, firefighters and their families were invited to eat at Esteban's Café and Cantina. A full breakfast was provided by the owners.
The Blue Santa Program also helped supply 14 beds with bedding to families that were in need, as well as space heaters.
The event is made possible from donations from schools, individuals, groups and businesses in the area.
