Senator to be honored during awards banquet at South Shore Harbour Resort

U.S. Senator John Cornyn

U.S. Senator John Cornyn will receive the 2012 Quasar Award Jan. 20, at the South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center.

The award is presented each year by the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership to an outstanding individual who has contributed greatly to the economic wealth and diversity of the Bay Area Houston region. The presentation is part of the annual Quasar Award Banquet.

Since 2002, Cornyn has worked in the U.S. Senate to protect and promote Texas businesses. In June 2011, Cornyn wrote EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson highlighting the dangers of unfairly sweeping Texas into the final Cross-State Air Pollution Rule program without due process.

Cornyn has helped pass major port security legislation providing for increased communication and layered security at every step of the supply chain.

The South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center is located at 2500 S. Shore Blvd., in League City.
