Robotics enthusiasts gear up at UH-Clear Lake

About 450 students and robotics teachers are expected take part in the 2010 Houston-area Lone Star Regional FIRST Robotics Kickoff on Saturday, Jan. 9
The event to get students ready for a robotics competition in April runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the University of Houston - Clear Lake's Bayou Building Atrium 1 and Bayou Theater.
It's the eighth year the event has been hosted by UH-Clear Lake.
During the kickoff, student teams from the Houston area will hear from Houston FIRST Regional Director Lucia Sevcik, as well as a welcome by UH-Clear Lake Associate Vice President for University Advancement Dion McInnis and Professor of Computer Engineering Tom Harman.
They also will receive their kit of parts along with information and instructions for Lone Star Regional FIRST Robotics Competition held April 1 3 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
