Houston area dental group accused of injecting disinfectant into patient
A dentist and dental group, in Clear Lake, are being sued over claims a patient sustained serious injuries while undergoing a root canal.
Subhash Sawhney filed a lawsuit on Dec. 16 in the Harris County District Court Monarch Dental, with an office in Clear Lake, and Ali Daneshmand, DDS, citing gross negligence.
Sawhney says on Dec. 17, 2009, he sustained serious injuries, including swelling, hematoma, and loss of facial function, while undergoing a standard root canal performed by Daneshmand. According to a Harris County court brief, Daneshmand inadvertently injected sodium hypochlorite, or bleach, into Sawhney’s gum, instead of the standard numbing agent.
Sawhney is seeking damages and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Michael Patrick Doyle.
